Reviews:
This gets: a from eryka:
Very Czech. The structure is similar to Kundera, Klima and other Czech authors who's last names begin with a K, and the subject matter, of course, deals with conformity, voice, and survival in a world where nonconformity was criminalized and individuals were disempowered. Another glimpse into aspects of Soviet domination over the Eastern Bloc.

From the back cover:

In Czechoslovakia during the 1980s, young Milan comforts himself with long-distance running and a woman named Tania, when he is forbidden entrance into the university because of his father's political activities.

eryka.com scale:

So good you just can't stand it.
Almost that good.
Sort of good.
Generally a waste of time.
Destined for the recycler.
